Your Campus Health Center

Most schools have a campus health center. At some schools, it is a small facility that can handle simple injuries, common illnesses like strep throat, and basic preventive care such as contraception. At others, the health center could be a full-service clinic. Other schools do not have a health clinic on campus, but instead send students to a clinic in the community. Some universities with medical schools have health centers connected with the university hospital. Familiarize yourself with your health center’s services, hours of operation, location, and contact information.

DO BEFORE YOU GO

If you will have regular preventative healthcare needs at school, acquaint yourself with any of these that are applicable to you:

Know the campus address and mailroom hours if you will have prescription medications or supplies sent directly to you.

Find out if your campus health center can refill your prescriptions for you or if there is a pharmacy near your school where you can pick them up (and that you know how to get there).
